About
New Mexico Highlands University’s Art Department offers several degrees to help launch your creative career. Undergraduates can pursue a bachelor of arts degree, a bachelor of fine arts degree, or an interdisciplinary B.F.A. in fine arts and media arts. New Mexico Highlands University also offers a minor in art history, which develops an appreciation for art with an emphasis in Western art and architecture. This minor helps to develop an understanding of art in culture and how it reflects society.
Job prospects
Graduates with an art degree can look forward to exciting and creative careers in areas such as studio art, publication illustration, advertising, film and theatre set design, foundries, exhibition design, museums, and education.

In addition to our proximity to two world-renowned art markets, Santa Fe and Taos, the Art Program at New Mexico Highlands is home to two biannual conferences, Iron Tribe and Print, Printed, Printing, that attract working artists from around the globe. Our students find they have ample opportunity to display their work both on campus and around the Las Vegas area. We have fully equipped printmaking, jewelry, and ceramic studios as well as a state-of-the-art foundry. Highlands also provides personal studio space for advanced students. We also have one of the lowest reported tuition rates in the United States.
