For more than a century, New Mexico Highlands University has been the school of choice for generations of students wishing to pursue a teaching career. Our program provides a solid foundation in the latest education methods and hands-on classroom experience. We also offer a range of specialized majors in minors – early childhood multicultural education, elementary education, special education, secondary education, bilingual education, and ESL – to accommodate students’ passions.

New Mexico Highlands University Presents:
Programa Intensivo de Español Virtual
Verano/Summer 2021

Dates: May 30 (½ day), June 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (½ day), 2021
(No classes/activities on May 31, 2021)

Location:  Online synchronous

La Prueba Exam Date:  June 8, 2021 (To be administered virtually by the ENMU Testing Center.)

We invite candidates who will be taking La Prueba Bilingual Certification Exam to participate in our 2021 Summer Virtual Spanish Immersion Institute. This institute will total one week of intensive online courses (total 6 credit hours) designed to equip you with the skills necessary to navigate La Prueba Exam. Classes will be delivered virtually to accommodate the need for social distancing as mandated by the state of New Mexico. Participants will be able to work collaboratively with their peers via the synchronous classroom using Zoom/Brightspace. All coursework and cultural awareness components will afford participants opportunities to communicate in the target language.

Total cost of the institute is:
Undergraduate/Resident – $1,678.56
Graduate/Resident – $1,852.50

Cost for the institute includes:
In-state tuition (6 cr. hrs.), Campus Life fee, and online La Prueba Study Guide.

Scholarships are available as follows:
Undergraduate – $1,342.85
Graduate – $1,482.00.

At time of registration, student will be responsible for difference in cost. A total of 15 scholarships (7 undergraduate and 8 graduate) will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Graduate students are assigned to a faculty adviser within their area of study. The faculty adviser will help the student complete a program of study to satisfy the specific course requirements within their area, outlined in the Graduate Catalog.  The courses listed must satisfy the course requirements prescribed in the catalog of record. The academic adviser will provide guidance in completing your program of study.
