NMHU General Store and Pantry

The Basics

Who qualifies?
All currently enrolled students can use the free pantry. You don’t have to apply. You’re automatically qualified!

How does it work?
Bring your NMHU student ID card (or let us know your ID number). This qualifies you to shop the NMHU store once each day. During your first visit, you’ll receive a reusable tote bag, and we’d love to see you bring it each time you shop! There is no charge. Take what you need.

Handy tote bags, with some of the items you can put into them:

The pantry is open from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, and then 1 to  5 p.m. Monday through Friday, as long as the university is in session. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged. Make yours here Explore – Engage@HU (campuslabs.com) or give us a call at 505-454-3529 to be sure we’re staffed when you are coming. Remember, all currently enrolled students can use the free pantry.

Where is it?
We’re in the SUB, first floor, #110.

What’s available, and how much?
You’re an HU student, so there’s no charge! You can pick up non-perishable items like canned goods, snacks, paper products, and personal hygiene items.  Here’s an idea of what you can find in the General Store:

I’m not a student, but I remember those days! How can I donate?

Yay, Highlands Family! We gladly accept donations of paper goods, personal hygiene products, and non-perishable foods. Please consider disposable utensils, plates, bowls, cups and glasses, too.

We are not carrying frozen food yet and we cannot accept monetary donations at this time. We are rapidly changing, however; please check back with us regularly!
