NMHU General Store and Pantry

The Basics

NMHU Food Pantry LogoWho qualifies?

All currently enrolled students can use the pantry, free of charge! You don't have to apply. You're automatically qualified!

How does it work?

Visit us in person during our hours of operation or make an online pickup order for our parcel system. For both options, you will need to make an account and answer our registration questions on our platform PantrySoft using this link. Once you have completed this, you will not be asked to register again. Instead, you will just provide your name or student ID number so your visit can be logged. All information gathered is confidential and is only used for reporting purposes so that we can continue grow the pantry's operations!

After you are in our system, you can shop as you please within our items limits (each items has its own limit). You can take one full shopping basket per visit and can stop by or order a pickup, a total of 2 or 3 times per week.

During your first visit, you'll also receive one reusable tote bag, that we'd love to see you bring in each time you shop! We also have plastic bags available when necessary.

Hours of Operation

Summer 2026: Monday-Friday from 10am-2pm

Fall 2026/Spring 2027: Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm

These hours are subject to change, and we will be closed on days NMHU's main campus is closed.

Walk-ins are always welcome, but if you can't make it in, try our parcel system, or contact us through email (studentresources@nmhu.edu) or phone (505-454-3037) so that we can do our best to accommodate your needs. Remember, all currently enrolled students can use the pantry for free!

Where is it?

We're located in the Student Union Building (SUB) on the 2nd floor, right next to the stairway!

What's available, and how much?

You're an HU student, so there's no charge! You can pick up non-perishable items like canned goods, snacks, paper products, and personal hygiene items.  We also have refrigerated and frozen foods available! Additionally, we provide a refreshment bar and resource table for your convenience!

Again, please keep in mind that we do have a limit marked on each individual item explaining how many can be taken per visit. All students can come in/order a pickup a total of 2-3 times per week.

Here's an idea of what you can find in the General Store:

Food and supplies on a table.

I'm not a student, but I remember those days! How can I donate?

We gladly accept donations of paper goods, personal hygiene products, and non-perishable foods. Please also consider disposable utensils, plates, bowls, and cups!

For frozen or refrigerated foods and monetary donations, please reach out to the Director of Student Wellbeing and Resource Support to make arrangements:Carmelita Sanchez profile image
