The School of Social Work at New Mexico Highlands University’s main campus in Las Vegas, New Mexico offers both the M.S.W. and B.S.W. degree programs. Both programs only offer daytime classes.  M.S.W. students attend classes on Monday and Tuesday and B.S.W. students attend classes on Thursday and Friday.

The M.S.W. program only offers one program concentration in clinical practice.  Although most of the students attending the main campus are full-time, students may attend on a part-time basis.  The main campus program also offers the Advanced Standing honors program to qualified B.S.W. graduates. Students have an opportunity to live and work in a rural community that is home to the only state psychiatric/behavioral health hospital, two high school districts and one community college. Students’ field practicum placements vary in type of services provided to residents in the area from psychiatric/mental health care to community advocacy and community organization.
