Connect with your higher purpose

Do you crave a college with a sense of community? One where students are treated as family?

Look no farther than Highlands University. Here we offer a tight-knit support system of professors and staff so you feel at home the moment you step on campus.

One that will continue to serve you throughout your college years and AFTER graduation, as you navigate the career field.

Making the transition from the military to college can be tough.

That’s why we offer School Certifying Officials at each campus location to ensure that your VA benefits are processed in a timely manner. Additionally, each of our locations has ready access to counseling services in your immediate vicinity.

Our professors not only help you find the right career path, but they understand that you have something special to contribute. This means tapping into your unique skill set and perspective so that you can serve your true purpose.

Take Monte Roybal, computer science graduate and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, who recently obtained a software developer position at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Roybal says, “Highlands transformed my life, not only in the sense that it greatly expanded my horizons, especially in the world of computer science, but the university opened doors to many professional opportunities in life that I would not have had.”

Other veterans have gone on to become commissioned officers in the New Mexico National Guard, or counselors and social workers who work with veterans and their families. The possibilities are endless.

Expand your horizons

At Highlands, we pride ourselves on diversity. In fact, we were recently named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the most diverse regional universities in the Western United States.

Here, you will find people from all walks of life: parents, students from around the world (24 countries are represented at Highlands), and students like you who are pursuing an education after years spent serving in the military, gaining experience in the working world, or raising a family.

One thing you’ll discover, though, is that as diverse as our campus is, we are aligned in a common vision — to serve the community and the world at large in whatever way we can.

Graduate debt-free, with real-world skills

You served your country, and now we want to serve you. The last thing you want to worry about is scrambling for the funds to pay for your education or graduating with mountains of debt.

Between VA education benefits, scholarships, and grants, most veterans are able to cover more than 95% of their tuition, book costs, and other fees.

This is an education you can actually use.

At Highlands, we value practical, hands-on skills that have strong applications in the real world.

In a recent survey of alumni who graduated in 2015 and 2016, 87% stated they were either satisfied or very satisfied with their current jobs.
