Admission Requirements
Enrollment is offered during the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.
Admission as a classified graduate student in the Master of Arts in Counseling program requires:
- A baccalaureate degree
- A grade point average of at least 3.0. (May consider admitting individuals on provisional status who do not meet the GPA undergraduate requirement, especially those with advanced degrees.)
- Completion of the University Graduate application ($25 one-time, non-refundable application fee)
- Written statement - be sure to include each: 1) educational goals, 2) what motivates you to become a counselor, and 3) what you hope to contribute to the counseling profession
- Copies of transcripts (from all universities and colleges attended)
- Ratings from professional recommenders (2 required)
- Relevant work experience via a Resume/CV
Application Deadlines:
- Spring Semester: October 15
- Summer Term: March 15
- Fall Semester: April 1
This is a selective admissions program. Applicants who do not gain acceptance during one admissions cycle are encouraged to apply to a future admissions cycle.

Unfortunately, the NMHU Counseling Department is not currently accepting international graduate students due to the program’s face-to-face requirements.
