San Juan College President Toni Pendergrass, left, and Highlands University President Jim Fries sign an agreement Sept. 3 that allows students from San Juan to transfer to Highlands to complete a new bachelor’s degree in Oil and Gas Management. At right are Gilbert Rivera, vice president of Academic Affairs at Highlands and Margaret Young, dean of the university’s School of Business, Media and Technology. The partnership between the two schools allows students to complete their associate’s degree in the San Juan College School of Energy and then complete their BBA in oil and gas management at Highlands, with an MBA also offered. The new B.B.A. is designed to help oil and gas technicians gain the education they need to move into management positions in the industry. It is the only degree program of its kind in the state and is offered at the Highlands University Farmington Center located at San Juan College.
