SkillsFirst
SkillsFirst is a career preparation platform that helps students create stronger resumes, cover letters, portfolios, and interview responses. Students can use SkillsFirst to build professional application materials, receive guidance on resume formatting and content, and practice interview questions before meeting with employers. This tool is especially helpful for students preparing for internships, career fairs, graduate school applications, or their first professional job search.
Handshake
Handshake is NMHU’s online career platform for jobs, internships, career events, and employer connections. Students and alumni can use Handshake to search for part-time jobs, internships, full-time professional positions, and career fair opportunities. Handshake also allows students to build a career profile, upload resumes, explore employers, register for events, and connect with organizations that are interested in hiring college students and recent graduates.
Indeed JobSearch Academy
Through Indeed Job Search Academy, students and alumni can access free virtual lessons and resources on job searching, resumes, interviewing, networking, and preparing for the hiring process. This resource is especially useful for students preparing to enter the workforce or strengthen their job-search strategy.
CampusGroups
CampusGroups helps students get involved on campus and build experiences that support career readiness. Through student organizations, campus events, leadership opportunities, and co-curricular involvement, students can develop transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, and professionalism. These experiences can strengthen resumes, interview responses, graduate school applications, and future career goals.
